bullet Software Interface Design

With the advance of new technologies, the interface or "graphic layer" has become very important in the success of a software product. The users appreciate -above all else - intuitive graphical environments that help them to carry out the tasks that are performed on a computer. Today software must not only be measured by its stability or robustness, but also by the degree to which it allows users to perform tasks with a minimum of effort and a maximum of utility. Our Graphical Interface Team -along with the area of quality control - has included in its work a line of research where new technologies are constantly being validated that contribute to the achievement of these objectives. The above has a direct relationship with meeting the standards of Usability, Accessibility and Information Architecture that set the current trends. Our development methodology is oriented step by step to the client in the best way possible to focus the interface to achieve an intuitive product which is easy to use, visually pleasing, and valued by the end-user.

bullet User Centered Design

In general terms, user-centered design is a philosophy and design process centered around the needs, desires and limits of the end-user of an interface or document at each level of the design process. User-centered design can be characterized as a problem of multiple level resolution, that not only requires designers who can analyze and foresee how the users will interact with an interface, but also to test the validity of their hypotheses analysing user behavior through real life tests with current users. Such tests are both necessary and difficult for the interface designers, involving a throrough, intuitive understanding of what the first time user experiences with thedesign, and what each user's learning curve might be with any particular application.

The main difference from other interface design philosophies is that user-centered design attempts to optimize and adapt the user interface to what people are comfortable with, rather than forcing users to change how they work to accommodate to a system function.

bullet Accessibility

Accessibility in terms of the Internet is defined as the ability of a web service or product to be accessed and used by the greatest possible number of people, regardless of limitations of the individual or of those derived from the context of use.

When we speak of accessibility to the Web, we are referring to the total elimination of technological barriers. Accessibility should be understood as "part of", and at the same time, "requirement for " usability. One design will be accessible when it is usable for more people in more situations or contexts of use, making it possible for all users to carry out their tasks efficiently and satisfactorily.

KI Teknology's proposal aims at equality in the access to information and at the opportunities provided by the TICs. This approach has been followed in our projects and, in particular, in our company website, that has been developed using KI Teknology's own methodology in the application based on usability, accessibility, and information architecture.

bullet Usability

Usability is the discipline that studies the way web sites are designed so that the users can interact with them in the easiest, most comfortable and intuitive way possible. It refers to the speed and the facility with which the users can perform tasks and involves design centered on the client rather than on technology.

For this purpose, usability is always present in every project developed by KI Teknology, and this is manifested as a natural outcome of the process of Information Architecture.

bullet Information Architecture

Information Architecture is work discipline that allows information to be organized so that the people who use it can do so in the most useful manner possible. It is the combination of three fields: technology, graphic design and journalism-editing.

Information architecture not only includes the activity of organizing information, but also organization systems and content structures, systems for information recovery and browsing provided by the web site. When the structure of IA of a site is defined, the following elements should be taken into account: groups of contents, table of contents, site map and interaction system.

At KI Teknology we have extensive experience developing web sites, with more than 700 successful projects backing us up, ranging from e-business to corporate web sites. All of these projects meet usability, accessibility, and information architecture standards that today are fully recognized throughout the world.

Our services combine the best practices of Software and Systems Engineering and project administration along with extensive experience in Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) and in Interaction Design. Our client portfolio ranges from small and medium sized companies to large multinationals that have all looked to Ki Teknology for solutions.
